    Luli van der Does-Ishikawa specialises in the interdisciplinary quantitative and qualitative study of Japanese language, people and society. Her 2014 PhD analysed the process of ideological transfer through discursive communication in the children’s songbooks used in schools in imperial Japan 1981-1945. Her recent publications have focused on the self-representations of the Kamikaze Tokkô-tai. She has taught at the School of East Asian Studies, University of Sheffield and IALS, University of Edinburgh, and now she is actively engaged in several research projects and is also a professional conference interpreter serving international organisations.
