Date: 8 June 2016
On June 8, the Project team got together in the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies to discuss research activities in the past year and to exchange ideas for the future. The seminar was held in an informal atmosphere, which enabled a lively debate and exchange among the colleagues and guests of the event. Besides the Project members, several guests attended the seminar: Professor Mickey Adolphson, Keidanren Professor of Japanese Studies at the University of Cambridge, Dr. Todd Hall, Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford, Dr. Matthew D. Johnson, Associate Professor at Grinnell College, and Mr Kuan-jen Chen, a PhD Candidate in the Department of History, University of Cambridge.
The core members of the Project – Dr. Kushner, Dr. Choi, Dr. Doglia, Dr. Muminov and Ms. Otsuka – all made twenty-minute presentations about their accomplishments in the past year and the projects that they are currently working on. Dr. Hall and Dr. Johnson also shared their research findings with the audience. Each presentation was followed with twenty minutes of discussion, where the presenters answered questions, received feedback and suggestions from the audience.
